It won't be too long

Since I really have nothing to add except more painting stories, here's one of my favorite excerpts from Now I Can Die In Peace.

"Fantastic exchange as (Tim) McCarver praises Matsui's bloop double for the fourth time in the past 12 minutes.

McCarver [narrating yet another replay]: ...That's an extraordinary job of hitting by Hideki Matsui.

(Al) Leiter [after a beat]: Or just really lucky.

McCarver: Fuck you, Al! Fuck you! Don't pull that shit with me again!
(Actually, McCarver said, "You know what, I think it's more than luck, he hit the ball hard!" But I liked my version better.)

Good times right there. There is no announcing crew that is worse than Tim McCarver and Joe Buck. Especially after Sunday Night NFL left ESPN. Guess I just can't wait until FOX forces that crap on national television again. I'm thinking an Eric Foreman "Yay" is required.

I'll send an S.O.S. to the world...

So, yeah, it's been a long time. But now that I've got internet set up in my new place, things are good again. And I'll be (hopefully) writing more. Which will be good because I'm sure all of you missed reading my blog. So yeah, here's what's happened over the last month and a half.

Purchased the townhome from Joe, Mr. "I wish I were a mafia member so I'll just dress like a slacker/bum fresh from the gym with my gold chains." Boy, that was a fun closing. Total time spent in the office = 2 hours, 21 minutes. And most of it was me signing my name. Over and over again. Which is fine, I guess. I didn't get hand cramps, which helps. But my own bank forced me to include my middle initial on all of my signatures, which is something I don't regularly do. I don't even know how they got my middle initial on their forms. As far as I know, they don't even know it. Well, perhaps they stole it off my name plate on my desk. But I don't have it on my checking/savings account and I didn't use it for my auto loan, so I don't know where they got that from.

I've started putting together my house. It's got the basics covered: TV, DVD player, computer (duh), two bedrooms, fridge and all that kitchen stuff. I started painting the living room/dining room area yesterday, which is good. The carpet has been replaced and it goes well with the new wall coloring. I received my washer/dryer set from Sears today, so that's ready to go. All I need to do is finish painting and I'll be on my way to looking good. Unfortunately for me, that's a pretty big task, so I'm looking at another two months worth of work. When that's all done, I'll start replacing the junk that's not any good and maybe save towards getting a new couch.

As for personal stuff, not too much going on there. The softball team that I've been playing for won its second game, which may not sound like a whole lot unless I told you that we've now won 2 out of 11. So it was a big accomplishment. That and the guy that played firstbase for the team we beat was just about as annoying as possible. After the game was over, his own teammates were saying how much they hated having him on their team. When your own teammates don't like you, there must be something you're doing wrong. That's my personal motto. Or something.

Well, time to get back to work on the house. Or go to bed. Good night.
